Iceberg

Only about 10% of an iceberg sits above water — the phrase "tip of the iceberg" comes from this 90/10 ratio. Most icebergs in the North Atlantic are calved from the glaciers of western Greenland and can drift for years before melting. Their blue-green tint comes from compressed ice that absorbs red light, not from the seawater around them. The famous Antarctic iceberg A23a was grounded for over 30 years before breaking free in 2024 — at one point it covered around 4,000 square kilometers.
