Yeti

The Yeti comes from Sherpa and Tibetan folklore in the high Himalayas with reports stretching back centuries. Charles Howard-Bury's 1921 Everest expedition popularized the name Abominable Snowman in the West, and Eric Shipton's 1951 photograph of a giant footprint in the Menlung Basin made the creature an international fascination. The climber Reinhold Messner spent years tracking accounts and concluded many descriptions match the Tibetan blue bear.
