Troll

Trolls are creatures from Scandinavian folklore, said to live in mountains, caves, and deep forests. They range from enormous mountain trolls that turn to stone in sunlight to smaller forest trolls with long noses and bushy tails. The most famous troll stories come from the fairy tale collection Asbjørnsen and Moe, published in the 1840s. Theodor Kittelsen's illustrations from the 1900s defined the look most people picture today — mossy, craggy, and slightly menacing.
