Phoenix

The phoenix is a mythological bird that lives for 500 years, then builds a nest of spices, bursts into flames, and is reborn from its own ashes. Versions of the myth appear in Greek, Egyptian, Persian, and Chinese tradition — the Egyptian Bennu bird is one of the earliest examples. The phoenix has long been a symbol of rebirth, renewal, and immortality, which is why it appears on so many flags, coats of arms, and book covers.
