Windmill
Traditional windmills used wind power to grind grain into flour for centuries before steam engines replaced them. The Netherlands alone had over 10,000 working windmills by the 1850s, used not only for milling but also for pumping water out of low-lying polders to keep land dry. The four sails are angled like airplane wings to catch the wind, and the entire cap at the top rotates so the miller can point the sails into the breeze. Dutch windmills are typically built from brick with a thatched or wooden cap. Printable coloring page of a traditional Dutch windmill with four sails and a stone tower.
