Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a colossal sculpture carved into the granite face of a mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The faces of four US presidents — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln — were chosen to represent the country's birth, growth, development, and preservation. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum and his team worked from 1927 to 1941 using dynamite for most of the rough cutting. Each face stands about 18 meters tall, the height of a six-story building.
