Lighthouse
The tallest traditional lighthouse ever built is the Île Vierge lighthouse in Brittany, France, standing 82.5 meters high — taller than a 25-story building. Lighthouses use Fresnel lenses, invented in 1822, which bend light into a narrow beam visible over 30 kilometers out to sea. Before electric lights, lighthouse keepers burned whale oil and had to trim the wicks every four hours through the night. Coloring sheet of a classic striped lighthouse with a domed light room.
