Seahorse coloring page
Seahorses are small fish that swim upright, anchoring to seagrass with their curled tails when currents get strong. Bony plates form their armor instead of scales. Seahorses are one of the only animals where the male becomes pregnant — the female deposits eggs into a pouch on his belly, and he carries and gives birth to the young weeks later. About 46 species are known, ranging from the 1.5 centimeter pygmy seahorse to the 35 centimeter pot-bellied seahorse of Australia. They eat almost constantly because they have no stomach.
