Sea otter

The sea otter (Enhydra lutris) lives along the North Pacific coast from California up to the Aleutians. Its fur is the densest of any animal at roughly 150,000 hairs per square centimeter, replacing the blubber other marine mammals use for warmth. Sea otters carry a favourite rock to crack open shellfish on their chest, and float in groups called rafts holding paws to keep from drifting apart.
