Crab

Crabs are crustaceans with ten legs, and the front pair has evolved into the powerful claws called chelipeds used for feeding and defense. The hard outer shell is an exoskeleton, which crabs must shed and regrow as they get bigger. Most species walk sideways because of how their leg joints are built. There are more than 6,000 known species living in oceans, fresh water, and on land — from the tiny pea crab a few millimeters across to the Japanese spider crab, which can reach more than 3.7 meters from claw to claw.
