Bumblebees are large fuzzy bees that pollinate plants across most of the world. Their thick coat of hair traps pollen and lets them fly in colder weather than honey bees can handle — they can warm up their flight muscles by shivering. A bumblebee colony usually has fewer than 400 workers, much smaller than a honey bee hive of around 50,000. They generally only sting when their nest is disturbed.
