Black panther

A black panther is not a separate species — it is a melanistic leopard or jaguar with a dark coat caused by a gene mutation. In bright sunlight you can still see the rosette pattern through the black fur, like a faint watermark. Black leopards are most often found in the dense forests of Southeast Asia, while black jaguars live in the rainforests of Central and South America.
